The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra is honoring Point Elementary music teacher Nicole Kissick by choosing her to be part of the Symphony’s EXTRA CREDIT On Stage music program.  The EXTRA CREDIT On Stage program lets Kissick and other selected music educators play side by side with Symphony musicians at a special concert in February.

“I am pretty much responsible for learning the music on my own,” explains Kissick.   “The Symphony musicians and the invited teachers will have one joint rehearsal together and then we get to perform on stage with them at Powell Hall.”

The St. Louis Symphony started the EXTRA CREDIT program to honor and celebrate the men and women who teach music in schools across the area.  Applicants needed to provide information about their music background and also explain their music philosophy.  Resident Conductor Gemma New will lead the music teachers and musicians of the SLSO at the special side by side concert on Friday, February 2nd.  There is no cost for concert tickets but RSVPs are required for the 7pm performance.

“I'm just really excited,” said Kissick.  “I adored playing on stage and am so excited for a chance to play with this level of musicians again. It definitely feels like a once in a life time opportunity!”
